met many of you when you came to campus for
your interview.I’m really looking forward to
seeing you again at new faculty orientation. I

to help you in any way we can to get you settled
at Humboldt State University, and to help you
throughout your career while you’re at
Humboldt. Looking forward to seeing you.
Hi welcome to Humboldt State University.
My name’s Dave Nakumura, I’m Executive
Director for the University Center.
The University Center operates a variety of
programs and facilities here on campus,
including seven different dining locations, the
HSU bookstore, the Student Union
Organization that you see behind me, and
through our Center Activities program, we run a
variety of outdoor activities and the Student
Recreation Center, and our Center Arts
Program brings world-class performances
here to campus. Hello, my name is Ken Ayoob, and I am the
Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and
Social Sciences here at Humboldt.
I want to take this opportunity to welcome all
the new faculty here. In my particular college,
we have 16 departments, lots of opportunities
for research and to do really good teaching
with very engaged students who are here to
get a good education.
I myself have been here 19 years; I started as
a lecturer and moved through the professorial
ranks, now I’m Dean of the College, very proud
to be so. My office is over in Gist Hall and my
door’s always open. I hope I will get a chance
to chat with you and see you and I really want
to again welcome you to Humboldt State
University, we are very happy you are here.
Hi I’m Peg Blake I’m Vice President for
Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.
Welcome to Humboldt State University.
You’ve joined a remarkable institution. I joined
a year and a half ago and I’ve been so glad to
have made the choice to come here.
In Student Affairs and Enrollment Management,
what we’re all about is partnering with the
faculty in supporting students in attaining their
educational goals. So we will help you support
student success in whatever way we can.
I hope that you will learn to use all the
resources that are available to you. You can
find them all on “My Humboldt,” the HSU portal
located in an easy place and it’s a quick
reference for you and also a good place to
send your students. We want to help you
however we can, please contact us if you have
any issues, or concerns, or questions. That’s
what we’re here for. Thanks, and welcome.
Hi, my name is Steve Smith; I’m the Dean for
the College of Natural Resources and
Sciences here at Humboldt State. The College
of Natural Resources and Sciences is
composed of about 12 academic departments,
these are apportioned largely between the
applied and the basic sciences. The applied
sciences would include our wildlife and
fisheries, and forestry program and our
program in environmental resources
engineering, and our basic sciences are the
typical biology and chemistry physics, and so
on, and we have, of course, many others. I
think you'll find that Humboldt State is a great
place to work, faculty and staff are extremely .
collegial and I think you’ll have a good time
here If there is anything my office can do to
help, please let me know.
Hi my name is Radha Webley. I direct HSU’s
Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Our office
works across a number of different areas on
campus, all focused in helping the campus to
institutionalize considerations of equity,
diversity, and inclusion in everything that we do
here on campus. So we work a lot with faculty,
staff, administrators, and students.
So I very much look forward to welcoming you
in the fall, and look forward to working with you
in years to come
Here in the Moodle Support Office, we offer
faculty, students, and staff full support on our
learning management system which in fact is
Moodle. We have drop in office hours
available, no appointment required. Before
school begins we offer “Moodle and a Muffin” -
you come in before the students get them all,
pick up a muffin, get your gradebooks setup
and we’ll help you get started in Moodle.
You can also make an appointment to ensure
that you don’t have to wait, depending on how
your schedule is operating. You can also get
Elluminate sessions online, and we have
what’s called Team Viewer so with your
permission we can actually come to your
computer desktop and help you set up any
particular course or feature that you want.
So stop by the Moodle office, we’re here to
help, were in Library 315 and you can give us a
call at extension 3633.
Hello and welcome. I’m Teresa, Teresa
Grenot, University Library Dean, and I welcome
you to HSU and your HSU Library.

over 140 databases, print book collections, e-

please join us, come visit us,
and we can share more Hi, welcome to HSU. If you’re gonna stop by
the bookstore, we’re located here in the

I’m the store manager. I’m Tura, textbook

about the many cost-saving options to your
students.

those cost-saving options.
