PURPOSE
of
JOHN:
John
20:31-32
Jesus
did
many
other
miraculous
signs
in
the
presence
of
his
disciples,
which
are
not
recorded
in
this
book.
But
these
are
written
that
you
may
believe
that
Jesus
is
the
Christ,
the
Son
of
God,
and
that
by
believing
you
may
have
life
in
his
name.

Jacob's

The
Problem
of
Suffering
One
of
the
most
common
objections
to
believing
in
a
loving
God…
1
Pet
3:15
calls
us
to
have
a
“ready
defense”
for
our
hope…
Therefore,
as
believers,
we
are
called
on
to
have
some
understanding
of
how
to
scripturally
deal
with
the
problem
of
suffering
If
God
is
supposedly…
All
Loving
All-Seeing
All-Powerful
All-Righteous
Yet
sin,
suffering
and
death
exist…
Then
God
either…
Doesn’t
know
Doesn’t
care
Can’t
do
anything
Or
He
doesn’t
exist
“the
Lord
our
God
is
holy”
(Ps.
99:9)
"God
is
love“
(1
John
4:8,16)
Phil
2:6-8
Who,
being
in
very
nature
God,
did
not
consider
equality
with
God
something
to
be
grasped,
but
made
himself
nothing,
taking
the
very
nature
of
a
servant,
being
made
in
human
likeness.
And
being
found
in
appearance
as
a
man,
he
humbled
himself
and
became
obedient
to
death--
even
death
on
a
cross!
Who
is
the
God
of
the
Bible?
God
is
the
Holy
Being
who
is
love
in
servant
form
God
is…
A
Being
who
is
Holy
Loving
Serving
A
Loving
Being
needs
an
object
of
that
love…
Therefore
God
created
man
I
love
you
I
love
you
I
love
you
Instead
God
created
man
with
a
free
will
to:
Choose
Him
or
Ignore
Him
Knowing
man’s
choice
would
be
to
reject
Him
And
knowing
this
rejection
would
result
in
man
living
in
a
fallen
world
And
knowing
His
Son
would
have
to
die
to
reconcile
sinful
man
to
a
Holy
God
For
God,
all
the
suffering
of
a
fallen
world
and
the
death
of
His
Son
is
worth
having
some
people
who
can
love
Him
forever
of
their
own
free
will!
For
God
so
loved
the
world
that
he
gave
his
one
and
only
Son,
that
whoever
believes
in
him
shall
not
perish
but
have
eternal
life.

‘You

Romans
8:20-22
For
the
creation
was
subjected
to
frustration,
not
by
its
own
choice,
but
by
the
will
of
the
one
who
subjected
it,
in
hope
that
the
creation
itself
will
be
liberated
from
its
bondage
to
decay
and
brought
into
the
glorious
freedom
of
the
children
of
God.
We
know
that
the
whole
creation
has
been
groaning
as
in
the
pains
of
childbirth
right
up
to
the
present
time.
Luke
13:4-5
“Or
those
eighteen
who
died
when
the
tower
in
Siloam
fell
on
them—
do
you
think
they
were
more
guilty
than
all
the
others
living
in
Jerusalem?
I
tell
you,
no!
But
unless
you
repent,
you
too
will
all
perish.”

John
15:20-1
Remember
the
words
I
spoke
to
you:
‘No
servant
is
greater
than
his
master.’
If
they
persecuted
me,
they
will
persecute
you
also.
If
they
obeyed
my
teaching,
they
will
obey
yours
also.
They
will
treat
you
this
way
because
of

for
they
do
not
know
the
One
who
sent
me.

1
Peter
4:13-14
But
rejoice
that
you
participate
in
the
sufferings
of
Christ,
so
that
you
may
be
overjoyed
when
his

If
you
are

because
of
the
name
of
Christ,
you
are
blessed,
for
the
Spirit
of

of

1
Pet
4:12

not
be
surprised
at
the

trial
you
are
suffering,
as
though
something

Personal
Sin
Gen
6:5-7a
The
LORD
saw
how
great
man's
wickedness
on
the
earth
had
become,
and
that
every
inclination
of
the
thoughts
of
his
heart
was
only
evil
all
the
time.
The
LORD
was
grieved
that
he
had
made
man
on
the
earth,
and
his
heart
was
filled
with
pain.
So
the
LORD
said,
"I
will
wipe
mankind,
whom
I
have
created,
from
the
face
of
the
earth--
1
Cor
11:27-30
Therefore,
whoever
eats
the
bread
or
drinks
the
cup
of
the
Lord
in
an
unworthy
manner
will
be
guilty
of
sinning
against
the
body
and
blood
of
the
Lord.
A
man
ought
to
examine
himself
before
he
eats
of
the
bread
and
drinks
of
the
cup.
For
anyone
who
eats
and
drinks
without
recognizing
the
body
of
the
Lord
eats
and
drinks
judgment
on
himself.
That
is
why
many
among
you
are
weak
and
sick,
and
a
number
of
you
have
fallen
asleep.
Personal
Sin
1
Pet
4:15
If
you
suffer,
it
should
not
be
as
a
murderer
or
thief
or
any
other
kind
of
criminal,
or
even
as
a
meddler.
Personal
Sin
Acts
12:21-23
On
the
appointed
day
Herod,
wearing
his
royal
robes,
sat
on
his
throne
and
delivered
a
public
address
to
the
people.
They
shouted,
“This
is
the
voice
of
a
god,
not
of
a
man.”
Immediately,
because
Herod
did
not
give
praise
to
God,
an
angel
of
the
Lord
struck
him
down,
and
he
was
eaten
by
worms
and
died.
Personal
Sin
Later
Jesus
found
him
at
the
temple
and
said
to
him,
"See,
you
are
well
again.
Stop
sinning
or
something
worse
may
happen
to
you."
