Judging
14-26:
Faith

Favoritism
Mom
always
did
like
you
best!
James
2:1
My
brothers,
as
believers
in
our
glorious
Lord
Jesus
Christ,
don't
show
favoritism.
Heh
mom!
Look
what
I
can
do!
Jesus
James
Why
can’t
you
be
more
helpful
like
your
brother?
Suppose
a
man
comes
into
your
meeting
wearing
a
gold
ring
and
fine
clothes,
and
a
poor
man
in
shabby
clothes
also
comes
in.
James
2:2
If
you
show
special
attention
to
the
man
wearing
fine
clothes
and
say,
"Here's
a
good
seat
for
you,"
but
say
to
the
poor
man,
"You
stand
there"
or
"Sit
on
the
floor
by
my
feet,"
James
2:3
James
2:4
have
you
not
discriminated
among
yourselves
and
become
judges
with
evil
thoughts?
Matthew
5:5
Blessed
are
the
meek,
for
they
will
inherit
the
earth.
James
2:5
Listen,
my
dear
brothers:
Has
not
God
chosen
those
who
are
poor
in
the
eyes
of
the
world
to
be
rich
in
faith
and
to
inherit
the
kingdom
he
promised
those
who
love
him?
God
bless
us,
Everyone!
But
you
have
insulted
the
poor.
James
2:6a
Luke
16:19-31
James
2:6b
Is
it
not
the
rich
who
are
exploiting
you?
Are
they
not
the
ones
who
are
dragging
you
into
court?
James
2:7
Are
they
not
the
ones
who
are
slandering
the
noble
name
of
him
to
whom
you
belong?
James
2:8
If
you
really
keep
the
royal
law
found
in
Scripture,
"Love
your
neighbor
as
yourself,"
you
are
doing
right.
For
whoever
keeps
the
whole
law
and
yet
stumbles
at
just
one
point
is
guilty
of
breaking
all
of
it.
James
2:10
All
who
rely
on
observing
the
law
are
under
a
curse,
for
it
is
written:
"Cursed
is
everyone
who
does
not
continue
to
do
everything
written
in
the
Book
of
the
Law."Galatians
3:10
James
2:12
Speak
and
act
as
those
who
are
going
to
be
judged
by
the
law

freedom,
Yes,

name
is
in
the
book
of

For
by
grace
you
have
been

through
faith.
Ephesians

James
2:13
because
judgment
without
mercy
will
be
shown
to
anyone
who
has
not
been
merciful.
Mercy
triumphs
over
judgment!
Go
and
sin
no
more!
1
Corinthians
6:2,3
Do
you
not
know
that
the
saints
will
judge
the
world?
And
if
you
are
to
judge
the
world,
are
you
not
competent
to
judge
trivial
cases?
Do
you
not
know
that
we
will
judge
angels?
How
much
more
the
things
of
this
life!
What
Kind
of
Judge
are
you?
Honest
Fair
Impartial
Merciful
What
good
is
it,
my
brothers,
if
a
man
claims
to
have
faith
but
has
no
deeds?
Can
such
faith
save
him?
James
2:14
Deeds
No
Suppose
a
brother
or
sister
is
without
clothes
and
daily
food.
If
one
of
you
says
to
him,
"Go,
I
wish
you
well;
keep
warm
and
well
fed,"
but
does
nothing
about
his
physical
needs,
what
good
is
it?
James
2:15,16
James
2:18
But
someone
will
say,
"You
have
faith;
I
have
deeds."
Show
me
your
faith
without
deeds,
and
I
will
show
you
my
faith
by
what
I
do.
You
believe
that
there
is
one
God.
Good!
Even
the
demons
believe
that--and
shudder.
James
2:19
Mark
5:7
He
shouted
at
the
top
of
his
voice,
"What
do
you
want
with
me,
Jesus,
Son
of
the
Most
High
God?
Swear
to
God
that
you
won't
torture
me!"

James
2:20-24
You
foolish
man,
do
you
want
evidence
that
faith
without
deeds
is
useless
?
Was
not
our
ancestor
Abraham
considered
righteous
for
what
he
did
when
he
offered
his
son
Isaac
on
the
altar?
You
see
that
his
faith
and
his
actions
were
working
together,
and
his
faith
was
made
complete
by
what
he
did.
And
the
scripture
was
fulfilled
that
says,
"Abraham
believed
God,
and
it
was
credited
to
him
as
righteousness,"
and
he
was
called
God's
friend.
You
see
that
a
person
is
justified
by
what
he
does
and
not
by
faith
alone.

O
Sovereign
LORD,
what
can
you
give
me
since
I
remain
childless
and
the
one
who
will
inherit
my
estate
is
Eliezer
of
Damascus?
Genesis
15:2
You
have
given
me
no
children;
so
a
servant
in
my
household
will
be
my
heir.
Genesis
15:3
This
man
will
not
be
your
heir,
but
a
son
coming
from
your
own
body
will
be
your
heir.
Genesis
15:4
Look
up
at
the
heavens
and
count
the
stars--if
indeed
you
can
count
them.
So
shall
your
offspring
be.
Abram
believed
the
LORD,
and
he
credited
it
to
him
as
righteousness.
Genesis

Genesis

Romans
4:18-24
Against
all
hope,
Abraham
in
hope
believed
and
so
became
the
father
of
many
nations,
just
as
it
had
been
said
to
him,
"So
shall
your
offspring
be."
Without
weakening
in
his
faith,
he
faced
the
fact
that
his
body
was
as
good
as
dead--since
he
was
about
a
hundred
years
old--and
that
Sarah's
womb
was
also
dead.
Yet
he
did
not
waver
through
unbelief
regarding
the
promise
of
God,
but
was
strengthened
in
his
faith
and
gave
glory
to
God,
being
fully
persuaded
that
God
had
power
to
do
what
he
had
promised.
This
is
why
"it
was
credited
to
him
as
righteousness."
Romans
4:18-24
The
words
"it
was
credited
to
him"
were
written
not
for
him
alone,
but
also
for
us,
to
whom
God
will
credit
righteousness—
for
us
who
believe
in
him
who
raised
Jesus
our
Lord
from
the
dead.
For
God
so
loved
the
world
that
he
gave
his
one
and
only
Son,
that
whoever
believes
in
him
shall
not
perish
but
have
eternal
life.
Martin
Luther
James

As

the

is

so
faith

is
