indoor
air
pollutants.
Chlorinated
hot
water
in
the
kitchen
sink,
washing
machine,
dishwasher
and
the
shower
can
release
volatile
organic
compounds.
Inexpensive,
engineered
wood
products
such
as
particleboard,
plywood
and
fiberboard
contain
adhesives
that
emit
hydrocarbons.
Some,
including
formaldehyde,
are
known
irritants
and
probable
human
carcinogens.
