The window that we use to graph a function is
often a concern for us when we're using the
calculator.
If we go to this key, the window key
the standard window is from a minimum on the X
axis of -10 to a maximum of 10
with marks every one unit. The same thing for
the Y axis.
So let's consider how this can occasionally be a
concern. For example, for this function
Y equals 2 X plus 30, we know it's a linear
function with a Y intercept of 30.
In a standard window, I will not be able to see the
graph of this function.
So I need to adjust the window. Let's go back to
window.
The X min and X max are not a concern. But with
a Y max of 10, I will not be able to see the graph.
So let me arrow down and change the Y max to
50.
There's no perfect Y max for this. I know the
intercept was 30, so 40 would have been a good
Y max, or 50, or 60; any of these.
I'm also going to change the scale to five
because it's putting a mark every one unit for all
50 units
and that would be a lot of marks. Let's graph this
and see if we can see the graph.
So by making an adjustment on the window, I'm
now able to see the graph of the function.
