Aletha Maybank, M.D., M.P.H --- Dr. Aletha Maybank is the Associate Commissioner/Founding Director, Center for Health Equity,  New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.  Maybank is a highly proficient physician with demonstrated excellence in public health, policy development, health communications/media, preventive medicine, leadership, and management performance. Her principal strengths are in the areas of media, partnership/relationship building, community-based participatory research methods, and organizational and community assessments necessary in developing effective communication points and social marketing strategies to improve the health of various communities.  Her mission is to blend health and personal empowerment in cutting edge ways. Her expertises are in preventive medicine, food and fitness, maternal and child health, cancer, HIV/AIDS, community health, and health inequities.
