Abraham negotiates with God for the lives of Sodom and Gomorrah. God's desire is for repentance over destruction. Also see Jeremiah 5 for similar instruction initiated by God to Jeremiah to look for the righteous in Jerusalem to avoid judgement. Also similarities to Matthew 25, the sheep and goat judgement. People who clothed the naked, fed the hungry, but didn't know God received salvation. The Talmud says Happy are the righteous and those who cling to them. Lot was rescued because of his association with Abraham, interesting.
