REVELATION • Victory in Jesus • LESSON 2 (April 15) Life in the Era of the Roman Empire BACKGROUND:  We learned in our study of Daniel that the Roman Empire would be “strong as iron, because iron breaks to pieces and shatters all things” (2:40). In Daniel’s vision of the four beasts, Rome is foretold as being “terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. It had great iron teeth; it devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet” (7:7).  While living in the era of the Roman Empire certainly had its blessings, the early A.D. centuriespresented serious challenges to Christians. Take the time to reflect on what was communicated to these earliest disciples of Jesus. What can we learn?
