Drawing from the report, Caregiving in the U.S. 2015, participants in this web seminar will learn about the “new normal” of caregiving: the caregiver cohort now has changed to include Millennials and people ages 75 and older, and higher hour caregivers, who provide more than 21 hours of care per week. Presenters will explore the foundation of caregiving in the United States, provide insights on national and state trends, and examine public policy efforts aimed at supporting family caregivers such as the CARE Act, the RAISE Act, the bipartisan Assisting Caregivers Today (ACT) Caucus, and the AARP Public Policy Institute’s newest initiative, the Home Alone Alliance. Presenters also will describe how philanthropic and other organizations can support the well-being of older adults and their caregivers. Dr. Susan C. Reinhard Senior Vice President at AARP, and Laura Rath, Senior Program Officer with the Archstone Foundation, discuss these issues.
