Side Kicking.mp4

This drill is performed on each side, one at a time and at 45 degrees of rotation. Side kicking is commonly performed completely rotated onto one's side, and this can be great for teaching an athlete to exaggerate what it feels like to rotate if they struggle to rotate the hips at all when swimming, but for this drill, the athlete will perform kicking on their side at a 45 degree angle with their arm outstretched overhead. This drill can be performed with fins or without fins, although I perform it with fins in this video demonstration.
