Have you already figured this one out? It's not the sequences changing each other, it's your timeline settings. Try saving different timeline views (expanded/narrow/with & without waveform display etc.), then switch between the views according to your needs during editing - larger audio tracks for audio mixing for example, etc. Email me if you have questions. I have never figured out the answer.
