Adding an Image Folder to the Image Library

MindManager has this feature hidden in Options and they use the generic name Package folders. This 1 minute video will show you how to do it.

This is useful when you have a folder shortcut to a folder where new documents are regularly added and you want to link some or all of them to a map or maps.

Creating a map with MindManager using only the keyboard

Open a new map and start typing to enter text in the central topic. Press enter twice and start typing in the main topic. Press enter twice and type in the second main topic. If you wish to add subtopics press insert. Use the arrow keys to move around the map. There is no need to use the mouse.

Disabling the Built In Browser

Some users find the built in browser in MindManager 8 very useful. Others find that they miss some functionality of their default browser. They prefer links to always open the browser and not to use the right click menu on hyperlinks. This is how t turn the built in browser off.

Removing file extension from Topic Text

When you drag and drop files from Windows File Explorer to a MindManager map the file extension e.g. .doc is included in the text. These can be simply removed by using Search and Replace

Troubleshooting Add Ins and improving performance

Sometimes MindManager Add Ins stop working just because a box is not ticked in the MindManager Options > Add Ins settings pane. Also you may add ins running which you don't use. Turning them off can improve performance.
