WSO2 Mashup Server Screencast #2: Web Scraping
Jonathan Marsh, Director of Mashup Technologies for WSO2, continues development of a podcast statistics mashup, showing in this episode how to scrape a Web page, extract information from the page, and expose it as a Web service. Demonstrates the basics of the scraping configuration language for acquiring the page and converting it to XML, the use of the Firebug extension for Firefox to examine the structure of the page, and the navigation of the resulting XML using E4X navigation capabilities. Also demonstrates annotations for enumerated types and numbers, including showing their effect on generating a useful and accurate WSDL complete with SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2, and HTTP bindings.
