Genius. I have known about the livescribe pen, for a long time. I even have one. But I NEVER thought of it as a math teachers too. Watching that I have a renewed interest in learning math, for myself! Every lesson could be recorded, posted and re-playable! WOW. This could completely change the way math is learned, and who excels in mathematics.
Math is one of those exclusive elitist subjects, where some students get it and others don't, and bad teachers think this is acceptable. It doesn't have to be that way. I rememeber trying so hard, it made sense when I was in class with the teacher, but i couldn't remember the steps or process on my own. But, if I had every lesson recorded I could have worked it through and gotten the practice I needed.

Genius, Tim you have done it again!

Thank you so very much Neil for your very kind words which mean so much to me. I too very much like the idea of mathcasts/pencasts really supporting student learning and making it possible to learn independently. I also like the idea a whole lot of students creating their own pencasts/mathcasts to help them share their thinking and reasoning about math out loud because this does such good things ... both for their math and communications' skills. I really like the smartpen because the learning curve for using it to create and share pencasts is almost nil ... so that even non-techy math teachers or very young students can do this. Thank you so very much for taking time to share such kind and inspirational words Neil! Have you been out to our livescribe wiki? www.edlivescribe.com Cheers! Tim
