Our Bad News – I ask you to turn your Bibles back to 2 Peter 3. If you have been here over the course of 2013, especially if you’re a member here then you know that if there is one word that we are returning to over and over again in a variety of different ways throughout this year it is the word grace. On the very first morning in 2013 we looked back at 2 Peter 3 and we don’t have time to read the entire context. He says in 2 Peter 3:17, “You therefore beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen”. So much of what we’re trying to do in 2013 springs from those two sentences at the very end of 2 Peter, not being carried away. Of course when it comes to the topic of grace there is much error, much misconception, much more lawlessness that is promoted when it comes to the topic of grace, much misunderstanding. The idea of having stability of course is a wonderful idea, but many Christians struggle with the idea of just how stable can I be in my relationship with God. Grace: God's Power to Overcome Sin (Student Workbook)Want to know more about Grace?
