God’s Good News – Last week we ended with “Our Bad News” and that was very well summarized by Romans 7. And really that discussion about our bad news started in Romans 7:15 and Paul’s says, “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.” And that’s really the phrase that we centered on last week, I have the desire to do what it good, to do what is right but not the ability to carry it out. This is Paul’s situation as he reflects upon, well it was his situation under the laws. He was trying to justify himself through the works of the law and ultimately as we read here that was a futile practice and futile exercise. And he goes on to say…Grace: God's Power to Overcome Sin (Student Workbook)Want to know more about Grace?
