Post a Comment or Reply

When a viewer comes to a piece of content that has commenting enabled, a Comments tab displays.

Post a Comment

Comments will appear immediately after they are posted. If the content owner comments, the comment is highlighted in orange and flagged with "Content Owner".

To post a comment:

  1. Enter your name (required).
    Note: Register for a Screencast.com Free account or sign in using your existing Screencast.com account information to automatically populate the Name and Email fields.
  2. Enter your email address (required).
    Note: If the content owner is receiving content comments via email, they have the ability to respond via email to your comments. The email address entered here is used for an email reply to your comment.
  3. Enter your comment in the space provided. You can enter a time stamp to automatically create a link to the portion of the video you wish to reference. See Below.
    Note: Review your post carefully. Once a comment is posted, you cannot delete it. See also 10 Tips for Successful Commenting
  4. Click the Post Comment button.

Note: To subscribe to the comments for this content, click the RSS Feed button. See also Subscribe to Comments via RSS Feed

The comment will appear at the top of the page and a Reply button will become available.

 

Post a Reply

A reply to a comment will appear indented underneath the comment. If the content owner replies, the reply is highlighted in orange and flagged with "Content Owner".

To post a reply:

  1. Click on a Reply link. The Reply fields appear.
  2. Enter your name (required).
    Note: Register for a Screencast.com Free account or sign in using your existing Screencast.com account information to automatically populate the Name and Email fields.
  3. Enter your email address (required).
    Note: If the content owner is receiving content comments/replies via email, they have the ability to respond via email to your comments. The email address entered here is used for an email reply to your comment.
  4. Enter your reply in the space provided. You can enter a time stamp to automatically create a link to the portion of the video you wish to reference. See Below.
  5. Note: Review your post carefully. Once a reply is posted, you cannot delete it. See also 10 Tips for Successful Commenting
  6. Click the Post Reply button.

 

Add a Link to a Specific Time in the Video

It is often convenient for other viewers and the content owner to have a link to the specific part of the video you are critiquing, questioning or praising. You can enter a time in your comment and Screencast.com will automatically convert it to a link that points to the specific time you referenced. Note: This only works for MP4 videos.

To create a link to a specific time (sometimes called deep linking), enter the time in the following recommended format: hh:mm:ss. For example, if you wanted to link to a point 9 minutes and 37 seconds into the video, you would enter: 9:37. 09:37 would also work.

It's also possible to create a link by typing the time as XXhXXmXXs. For example, if you wanted to link to a part of the presentation 1 hour and 12 minutes into the video, you could type: 1h12m00s.

Important: All units of time must be less than 60. For example, 1:30 will work but 0:90 will not.
