Share an Authenticated Folder or Playlist

An Authenticated folder or playlist offers the highest level of privacy. All Authenticated folders/playlists have a privacy level of Hidden applied to them and do not appear for browsing in your Library.

In order for content in an Authenticated folder/playlist to be viewed:

  • A viewer must receive an email from you containing a link to the content.
  • A viewer must have a Screencast.com account (they can create one for free).
  • The viewer's email address used to create a Screencast.com account must match the email address on the invitation they receive.

Additionally:

  • Authentication can only be applied to a folder or playlist – not individual content files in the library.
  • You can send up to 15 email invitations at one time.
  • Invitations can be revoked at any time rendering the link in that email invalid.
  • Email invitations automatically prompt the viewer to create a Free account in order to view the content.

 

Apply the Authentication Privacy Level

  1. Hover over a folder or playlist in the library. From the popup menu, click Edit.
  2. In the Privacy group box, click Change.
  3. The Edit Folder Properties or Edit Playlist Properties dialog box appears.
  4. Click the Authenticated button.
  5. Click Save.

 

Send an Authenticated Email Invitation

Note: You must have the Authentication level of privacy applied to your folder/playlist before you begin.

To send an email invitation:

  1. Hover over an Authenticated folder or playlist. From the popup menu, click the Share icon.

    The Share Folder or Share Playlist dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Send invite… button. The Send Invitation dialog box appears.
  3. Enter the Reply To Address you want to send with the invitation. Any replies from invited viewers are sent to this address.
  4. Invitations are sent to the email addresses entered in the Recipient Addresses field. Separate multiple email addresses, up to 15, with a comma.
  5. A preview of the Invitation Message appears at the bottom of the Send Invitation dialog box. Here is where you can enter a custom message that will appear in the body of the email. Highlight the text in the message box and type your own message.
  6. When all of the email addresses have been entered, click Send.
  7. You will receive a confirmation that the emails have been sent.

  8. Click Done.

 

View Accepted Invitations or Cancel a Sent Invitation

Invitations that have not yet been accepted and those that have been accepted can be canceled at any time. Cancelling the invitation renders the link in their email invalid.

To cancel an invitation or view who has accepted an invitation:

  1. Hover over an Authenticated folder/playlist. From the popup menu, click the Edit icon. The Edit Folder Properties or Edit Playlist Properties dialog box appears.
  2. Accepted and pending invitations are displayed at the bottom of the dialog. Click the red “X” to cancel an accepted or pending invitation.
