What is Commenting?

Commenting allows the content owner and their viewers to have a two way conversation concerning a piece of content. When commenting is turned on, viewers who come to see your content will be able to post a comment or a reply to a comment via the Comments tab on the view page.

  • People who wish to comment will need to enter their name and an email address. the email address will not show in the comments.
  • People who have a Screecast.com account may sign in. When signed in, the name and email address fields are automatically filled in for them.

 

To Turn on Commenting

  • The commenting option must be applied to individual pieces of content located within the library or in a folder.
  • You cannot apply the commenting option to content in a playlist.
  • The commenting option is disabled by default when you upload your content to Screencast.com.
  • Content that has commenting turned on but is being viewed in a playlist or media roll will not have the commenting available.
  • Public, hidden, password protected, and authenticated folders may all have commenting turned on.

 

The Account Owner Can:

  • Enable commenting
  • Disable commenting
  • Setup email notification of received comments
  • Hide or show existing comments
  • Remove or undo removed comments
  • Add comments
  • Add replies
  • Subscribe to new comments via an RSS feed
  • Reply via email to a comment that was posted. The email address used for the reply is the same email address used to sign in for commenting.
  • Important Note for Pro Account Holders: If all of the Content Option tabs have been turned off for a folder's template but a piece of content has Commenting enabled, the Commenting tab will be available to your viewers.

 

A Content Viewer Can:

  • Add comments
  • Add replies
  • Subscribe to new comments via an RSS feed
  • Enter time stamps that create links to reference a specific portion of the video. Learn how.
