Best File Formats for Embeded Content

File Formats that can be Embedded on Screencast.com

Embedding content on a website or blog causes that content to play or display within the page without launching an external player or a new browser window.

Screencast.com can host any file for download, but can only embed certain file types on the Screencast.com viewing page. On Screencast.com, embedding happens in two ways:

  • Content is embedded above the Detail tabs on the Screencast.com viewing page.
  • Content can be embedded on another webpage using the Screencast.com MediaRoll. To do so, copy the code provided on the Share Content dialog and paste it into a webpage or blog. For more information on embedding content on a blogging site, click here.

The tables below describe the video, audio, and image file formats that can be embedded on Screencast.com.

Note: Some files automatically display a Library thumbnail image based on actual content from the file (see image below). For video files, the thumbnail is created from the first frame of the video. For graphic files, the thumbnail is the graphic. There are no thumbnails for audio files.
