• Once you sign up, you are asked to confirm your email address. Once you have confirmed, your account is activated.

The Pro Account

• Includes 25 GB storage and 200 GB transfer bandwidth per month.
• The cost is $9.95 per month or $99.95 per year. Click this link to purchase a Screencast.com Pro account from the TechSmith store.
• Upload videos and use Screencast.com's folders and playlists to share your video publicly with anyone or privately with just those you select (either by invitation or password).
• Purchase additional transfer bandwidth from your Account Information page. To access the Account Information page, sign in to your account, then click your Display Name link at the top of the Screencast.com page.
• Create a uniquely branded template and assign templates to individual folders. Add your own logo, use your own color scheme, and customize what appears to viewers.

To Create an Account

To begin, click this link. You are taken to the Sign Up page.

1. In the Sign Up page, under the Account level field, select the account type: Pro or Free.
2. Fill in the following fields:

• Email: Enter a valid email address. An activation email is sent to this account, as well as storage and transfer bandwidth notices.
A valid email address must be between 6 and 129 characters.Valid characters include a-Z 0-9 _ - .
Note: While RFC 2822 states (+) is a valid character for an email address, Screencast.com does not support email aliases via the use of a plus sign (+) in the address.
• Password: Passwords must be at least 6 characters and are case sensitive. Combinations of letters (capitalized and lowercase) and numbers are suggested. Your display name and common passwords such as "password" or "qwerty" cannot be used. Pick a unique password. You can change your password at any time on your Account Information page. To access the Account Information page, sign in to your account, then click your Display Name link at the top of the Screencast.com page.
• Display name: A valid display name is between 2 and 20 characters, starts with a letter, does not include spaces, and is made up of letters (A-Z), numbers (0-9), and the following symbols: hyphen (-), and underscore (_).
  Your display name is shown in the title of your Library and in the URL to all of your content, folders, and playlists. It must be unique.
• Country: Enter your country of residence.

3. Check the Subscribe to the Screencast.com Newsletter option to receive tips and tricks via email.
4. Click Sign Up and Screencast.com sends an activation email to the address you entered above. Click the link in the email and your Screencast.com account is activated.
5. Log in and get started using Screencast.com.

How to Upload Content

There are several ways to upload content to Screencast.com:

1. Upload content from within the library using the Web Uploader.
2. Upload content using the Mac or Windows Desktop Uploader.
3. Upload content directly from other TechSmith products like Camtasia Studio and Jing.

Content hosted on Screencast.com is not compressed or re-encoded into a “one-size-fits-all” format and the integrity of your original content is protected. However, your content may be resized within the View Page in order to provide the best viewing experience for your audience. Viewers of your content are always able to see your content at its original size using the Full size option provided on the View Page.

Upload Files Smaller than 100MB (Web Uploader)

1. In the library's left navigation pane, click the Upload Content button. The Upload Content dialog box appears.
2. Click Browse.
3. Select the files to upload.
4. Click Open. The files begin to upload.
5. Once the files finish uploading, click Close. The files are in the library or folder.

Upload Files Larger than 100MB (Desktop Uploader)

To upload files larger than 100MB, use the Desktop Uploader. This is a free utility that you will download and install.

1. In the library's left navigation pane, click the Upload Content button. The Upload Content dialog box appears.
2. Click the Desktop Uploader link. You are taken to the Tools page.







 

3. Click the Windows Uploader link or Mac Uploader link. The download begins.











 

4. After downloading, open the file to begin the install. Step through the wizard and click Finish when the install is complete. The Desktop Uploader will be open and ready to use.
5. Click Add Files and select the files to upload or, drag files and drop directly on the uploader. the uploading will begin automatically.
6. When all of the files have been added, click Quit.

How to Share Your Content

First Secure Your Content

Before you share, you should consider the privacy levels assigned to your content. The privacy levels determine who can see your content and when they can see it (called security levels):

• The Public privacy level allows anyone who can find your library to view your content.
• The Hidden privacy level ensures the content will not be seen when others view your library – it is completely hidden from view.
• The Password level of privacy requires viewers to enter the password in order to view the content. The actual folder or playlist in the library will not be seen when others view your library.
• The Authenticated account is the highest level of privacy. In order to view the content, the recipient receives an email containing a link to the content. To view the content, the recipient must have a Screencast.com account (they can create one for free). The email address used to create an account must match the email address on the invitation. Additionally, an invitation can be revoked at any time rendering the link in that email invalid.

Sharing Snapshot

To Share Your Content

1. Mouse-over a folder, playlist, or content in the library. Click Share.
2. The Share Content, Share Folder, or Share Playlist dialog appears.

3. Click on the code snippet that correlates to the share option that you need. The code is automatically copied to the clipboard.

Share via an Email Invitation

1. To send an email invitation, click the Send invite button. The Send Invitation screen appears.
2. Fill in the Reply To Address and Recipient Addresses fields.
3. Click Send.

Share a Playlist

When sharing a playlist, it appears as a Playlist MediaRoll.

Click Share on a playlist in the library to bring up the Share Playlist dialog.
