To create an account on Screencast.com, visit our Sign Up page.

Select the Free Trial or the Buy Now tab, depending on which account plan you want. Fill in the following fields:

1. Email: Enter a valid email address. An activation email is sent to this account, as well as storage and transfer bandwidth notices.
2. Password: Passwords must be at least 6 characters and are case sensitive. Combinations of letters (capitalized and lowercase) and numbers are suggested. Your display name and common passwords such as "password" or "qwerty" cannot be used. Pick a unique password that is difficult to guess. You can change your password at any time on the Account page.
3. Display name: A valid display name is between 2 and 20 characters, starts with a letter, does not include spaces, and is made up of letters (A-Z), numbers (0-9), and the following symbols: period (.), hyphen (-), and underscore (_).
   Your display name is shown in the title of your library and in the URL to all of your content, folders, and playlists. It must be unique.
4. Country: Enter your country of residence.

Click Sign Up and Screencast.com sends an activation email to the address you entered above. Click the link in the email and your Screencast.com account is activated. Log in and get started using Screencast.com.

Upload content to Screencast.com directly within the library or use the Mac or Windows Desktop Uploader. Or, upload content directly from other TechSmith products, Camtasia Studio and the Jing Project.

Content hosted on Screencast.com isn’t compressed or re-encoded into a “one-size-fits-all” format. The integrity of your original content is protected, so what you upload is exactly what your viewers see.

Upload Files Smaller than 100MB

1. In the library, click the Upload Content button. The Upload Content dialog box appears.
2. Click the Browse button.
3. Select the files to upload.
4. Click Open. The files begin to upload.
5. Once the files finish uploading, click the Close button. The files are in the library or folder.

Upload Files Larger than 100MB

To upload files larger than 100MB, use the Desktop Uploader. This is a free utility that you download and install. Click the Upload Content button.

1. The Upload Content dialog box appears.
2. Click the Desktop Uploader link. You are taken to the Tools page.








3. Click the Windows Uploader link or Mac Uploader link. The download begins.










4. After download, open the file to begin the install. Step through the wizard and click Finish when the install is complete. The Desktop Uploader will be open and ready to use.

Use folders to organize your content. They act just like folders on your desktop; place content inside to group them together. You can make your folders public, password protected, hidden or require an authenticated account (requires an invitation and a free Screencast.com account to view).

You can embed public or hidden folders on your own webpage or blog using the Screencast.com MediaRoll, our embed widget.

Content can only exist in one folder. To share content stored in different folders as one group, try using a playlist.
